Duffer Brothers deny verbal abuse on 'Stranger Things' set>>

The creators of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” said they are “deeply upset” a crew member felt uncomfortable on set.

Matt and Ross Duffer responded to crew member Peyton Brown’s Instagram post on Thursday where she accused the showrunners of verbally abusing women who worked on the show.

“I personally witnessed two men in high positions of power on that set seek out and verbally abuse multiple women,” Brown wrote in the post . “I promised myself that if I were ever in a situation to say something that I would. I have 11.5 thousand followers who can hear me say this, TIME IS UP.”

She also declared in the post on International Women’s Day that it was the perfect time to announce she would no longer be working on Season 3.

“Women in the film industry are POWERFUL,” she continued. “We will rise and we will scream from mountain tops in support of each other and I will not contribute my time, efforts, and talent to such abusive people. “

While Brown did not name the two men in her caption, upon being asked if it were the Duffer Brothers she was referring to, she said, “yes.”

The Duffers apologized in a statement — but said the vibe on set was “mischaracterized.”
“We are deeply upset to learn that someone felt uncomfortable on our set. Due to the high-stress nature of production, tempers occasionally get frayed, and for that, we apologize. However, we think it is important not to mischaracterize our set, where we believe strongly in treating everyone fairly regardless of gender, orientation, race, religion, or anything else,” the statement obtained by Deadline read .

“We remain totally committed to providing a safe and collaborative working environment for everyone on our productions.”

Netflix also issued a statement and said they found “no wrongdoing” by the duo.

“We looked into the concern that was raised when we heard of the allegation on Thursday, and found no wrongdoing,” the statement read. “Maintaining a safe, respectful atmosphere on set is important to us, and we know it is to the Duffer Brothers as well.”
